At Bear & Birches, we believe that creating sustainable denim requires a collaborative effort. We're committed to partnering with suppliers who share our values and prioritize environmental and social responsibility. This allows us to offer premium denim with a conscience.
The foundation of our denim lies in carefully selecting materials from responsible suppliers.
We partner with suppliers who hold certifications that demonstrate a commitment to responsible practices.
GRS-100: We source materials from suppliers having Global Recycle Standard certifications, which track and verify the use of recycled materials within the supply chain.
GOTS: We prioritize organic cotton by sourcing from suppliers certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Organic Content Standard (OCS).
OEKO-TEX: We work with suppliers whose materials are certified to be free from harmful substances, ensuring safety for people and the environment.
Cradle to Cradle (Recycle): We aim to support circularity by sourcing from suppliers who are aligned with Cradle-to-Cradle principles.
We prioritize denim crafted using Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton and organic cotton, often blended with recycled materials and post-consumer waste (PCW) or pre-consumer waste (PIW) to conserve resources.
When we utilize polyester, we seek out options like Repreve, a recycled fiber made from PET bottles, to help reduce plastic waste.
For stretch, we look for options like Eco Lycra or Lycra.
