The Journey of Your Jeans: Our Process with TerraCycle®
We are committed to finding the best possible path for the materials you send back to us. That’s why we’ve chosen to use a leading-edge solution for materials that are not handled by traditional recycling facilities.
Once we receive your old jeans, they are prepared for the next stage of their journey. We use Zero Waste solution offered by TerraCycle® to recycle the denim. Your jeans are not only placed in Zero Waste Box™ and but they are also shipped to TerraCycle® for processing. There, the materials are sorted and transformed into raw materials that can be reused in new products, diverting them from landfill or incineration.

What can I send to the ReBearth program?
You can send us any pair of denim jeans. While we love seeing our own pieces come back to start their new life, we accept denim from any brand to help reduce overall textile waste.
What happens to the jeans I send?
They’re consolidated, quality-checked, and sent to our recycling partners for transformation. Never resold. Never wasted.
Why can't I just recycle my jeans in my curbside bin?
Denim is a complex textile that is difficult for traditional, municipal recycling facilities to process. Our ReBearth program ensures the material goes to the right place to be properly broken down and reused.
Who is TerraCycle® and how Bear & Birches works with them?
TerraCycle® is an innovative recycling company known for being award-winning waste experts. They specialize in creating solutions for "hard-to-recycle" waste—items that local councils or traditional recycling facilities typically do not process. Through our ReBearth program, we use the TerraCycle® Zero Waste Box™ solution. This allows us to collect your used denim and send it to TerraCycle®, where it is sorted and turned into raw materials for new products. This process ensures your old jeans are given a new life and are diverted from landfill
Is there a cost to take part?
None. We cover the cost of shipping and recycling because we believe responsibility should be effortless.
Do I get anything in return?
Yes. Once your jeans are received, we’ll send you a $20 digital gift card for your next Bear & Birches purchase.
How do I use the gift card?
It’s simple. Apply the code at checkout — one card per order of a jeans.
Can I send more than one pair?
Yes, but only one $20 gift card may be used per order of a Jeans.
Does the gift card expire?
Yes. It’s valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
